...Is a thing, apparently.
I don't get what all the hubbub is all about. Like I've been using eclipse ever since I was allowed to and I've not had any trouble with it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not going anywhere but if you're in the business of Not Deviantart Anymore just a reminder that my twitter is here: https://twitter.com/VixiVulpixel
I feel like first off, I owe something of an appology to anybody that's a fan of my Chushin-Pokedex. I think it goes without say that of all my currently ongoing projects, it's the one that's seen the most neglect by a country mile. And because of that, it's taken FAR longer than it has any right to have taken. Just in recent years I've run into a bit of a problem concerning those Fakemon. Namely, that the passion about Chushin has run its course in me. I've tired myself on the project. For multiple reasons, one of which being simply because the project has been running on for so long.
...But the main reason being these Fakemon are based on ideas I've made anywhere between 7 to 10 years ago. The only exceptions being #121-130, which I came up with relatively recently to replace the slots left behind by deciding to not bother with Legacy Evolutions. That was good in providing a nice surge of creativity back into me but now I've almost drawn all of them. So then it's back to those ideas that I'm far less interested in and a lot more bored with. Yes I could retool some, and I have retooled some in the past. (Chillar and Dracoin being notable examples) but that takes quite a bit of time to try and shift a less than stellar idea to a little bit better of one. The more I've looked at Chushin, the more it feels like this whole project is all just one big first draft. And what do I do when it feels like I've slaved away at a really long first draft?
...To put it simply, I'm starting over, in a way. I had always had the dream that Topaz and Amethyst would get to be games one day but. Nintendo being so protective of its IP, I couldn't see that ending well even if I still had the inspiration to make that. And a C&D would mean no sequels. When if I bothered to make one game, at least one sequel would very much be something I'd be interested in. The obvious work around? I've been working on an entirely new project, currently still in the very very VERY infant stages. Like, literally the idea only came to me about around June of this year. Chushin will more or less become a “first draft” of what will eventually be my very own monster-catcher rpg world with a game to go along with it. Made up of mostly entirely new ideas, now consisting of my much more refined creature design style. I was initially gonna say that I wouldn't reuse ANY of the previous ideas from the Chushindex, but I decided I'll go ahead and keep the handful that I have a bigger attachment to. Some will get spiritual successors; the same idea but overhauled pretty hard, a good chunk of them will likely be scrapped entirely. A select handful I'm already considering just inserting into the new project as-is; since I already think they're solid creature ideas.
Like I said though, I've not even started on the game itself yet. All I got right now is ideas to eventually implement once I better teach myself how to game-make. I do have a good idea on the direction I want to take the project, but it's quite likely gonna change as I figure most stuff out. It'll probably even be a few years before I ever bring it up again to be honest. (Though I am thinking of starting a game dev blog once I get the bigger picture in motion.)
...But what's this mean for Chushin then? Well...
It's still going to get finished. But its scope is getting dialed back a ton. And not too long after the new year starts, I'm gonna B-line for getting things wrapped up.
-There's simply far too many Chushinmon that, full admittance, are rather half-baked simply because I approached monster design differently back when I first came up with them. And I was going to make it a huge push to redesign all the ones I felt dissatisfied with. But I'm putting a cap on this here and now. No more redesigning. That's what this new project is for.
-While of course I'll make an effort to better my older, or outdated ideas, that's not gonna be a sole focus anymore. If I just can't immediately come up with anything better, I'm gonna prioritized “finished” over “perfected.” Again, that's what the new project is for.
-No more human characters. I was gonna make a huge cast, but again. At this point I'd rather redirect that effort toward the new project.
-No more Megas. If I ever feel like making fake-Mega forms, I'll just do them as regular drawings.
-There WILL be a small third-version-esque expansion once every Fakemon is done. But I'll keep that that entails a surprise.
Again, thanks for the patience, and I'm sorry if I've not met that expectation. This is just a project I would like to get finished before I get more serious about this new thing. I hope you all can look forward to this new project surfacing in the coming years!
